USCIS application procedures: Certificate of Naturalization

Certificate of Naturalization

The purpose of Certificate of Naturalization is to prove that you are a citizen of the United States. If you are a Naturalized Citizen of the United States, you can apply to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for a Certificate of Naturalization that you can use to prove your citizenship. A naturalized citizen is an individual who was not born a citizen, but acquired U.S. citizenship later. An example of a naturalized citizen could be an immigrant to the U.S. that has become a citizen, or an individual who was born abroad by parents who are U.S. citizens. You can apply for a replacement Certificate of Naturalization if you are a naturalized citizen of the United States and you have earlier received a certificate that has subsequently been lost, damaged or destroyed. You may also apply for a certificate in order to be recognized as a U.S. citizen by a foreign country.
