U.S. Passport
Application
If you are a
citizen of the
United States
you are entitled
to a U.S.
passport. A
passport is both
proof of your
identity, and of
your U.S.
citizenship. A
U.S. passport is
recognized as a
travel document
all around the
world and with
it you can enter
almost all
foreign
countries. A
passport is
required for all
international
air travel,
which means that
if you want to
fly to another
country, you
must have a
passport. It is
important to
note, however,
that only U.S.
citizens can
apply for a U.S.
passport.
Children,
including small
babies, must
have their only
personal
passports, even
if they travel
with family.
Every year, the
U.S. Department
of States issues
around 7 million
U.S. Passports.
The application
process takes
time, so it is a
good idea to
apply for a
passport several
weeks before you
plan to travel.
